Seeboden

High above Seeboden, on Lake Millstätter See, towers the 11th century Sommeregg Castle. Where once knights lived, guests will now find a restaurant, a scary torture museum and every year in August exciting jousting tournaments.

A holiday in Seeboden offers swimming and water sports in and on Lake Millstätter See, hiking between the mountain and the lake, for example on the Millstätter See High Altitude Trail, cycling along the Millstätter See Cycle Path and maybe combining this with the cycle ferry on the lake, riding and coach rides, geocaching, golf, climbing and much more besides.

The extensive green areas extend all the way to the shore, making this a wonderful spot for simply relaxing.

A special feature of Seeboden is the Bonsai Garden and Bonsai Museum, with more than 4,000 plants.

The abundance of species in Lake Millstätter See is fascinating. So every year in September, anglers from all over Europe are invited to the “Kristallrenke vom Millstätter See” competition, in which they fish for the largest whitefish, pike and perch. The story of the fishery is told at the Fishing Museum in Seeboden Bay.
