Oberdrautal Outdoorpark. Timeout amidst nature.

Here, at the meeting point of three geographical worlds, walking tours are particularly varied. Clear mountain lakes, murmuring brooks and the mysterious silence elsewhere, only interrupted by the sounds of the wood and its inhabitants: this is how the mountainous area north of the Drau Valley presents itself.

The other side is bizarre and wildly romantic. High alpine routes and an unparalleled hiking experience await committed hikers here in the massif of the Gail Valley Alps and Lienz Dolomites; sports climbers (“very fit climbing experts with alpine experience” according to the website) are magically attracted by Hochstadel and its north face, with 1,300 metres altitude, the highest rock face in Austria.
Yet the Upper Drau Valley has loads more on offer outdoors: the 280 km long River Drau cycle path, one of the most scenic cycle paths in the Alps; canyoning; fun swimming pools; a ninehole golf course; fishing waters; horse riding farms; and the proper thermals for hang-gliding and paragliding.
