The direct location at Lake Wörthersee and the Mediterranean climate provide southern flair. In the eastern bay of the lake (drinking water quality), sun-seekers can enjoy themselves at the largest lakeside lido in Europe with three large wooden piers for sunbathing, water slides and large sunbathing lawns. White passenger boats and colourful sailing boats cruise on the turquoise water. If you want to be active, you can play football, beach volleyball and loads more.
Klagenfurt has the best events!
In summer, the best and largest events are held in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. In July and August the two most important sport events of the region take place here: the Beach Volleyball Grand Slam and the Carinthia Ironman Austria.
The “city of culture in the south” also has a lot on offer in the areas of culture, theatre, cabaret and music: with a theatre for four genres of performing arts (linked to the City Theatre), cultural associations, choirs and galleries, Klagenfurt is provided with a lively art and culture scene. Those interested in history can explore the 800 years of history of Klagenfurt on a walk through the old town.
